It is my Bigham family … our first known Bigham was William born in Ireland,c1713. He and family left Dublin and settled in Pennsylvania. William son Samuel is my ancestor… after Fort Bigham was destroyed they moved to Mecklenburg County, NC. They carved over 1000 stones. Samuel and some if his family moved to Middle TN in 1816. He is my 5xgrandfather. They were Presbyterians but started the Christians Only…. Church of Christ. There were 5 Bigham families In Mecklenburg County, NC, at the 1700 &1800s. William Bigham’s family was from Scotland. Some of my family added the “N” and made it Bingham, Years ago I communicated with Mr. Beard. Certainly enjoyed our correspondence!
binghamartley@gmail.com Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6780824883768425920.post-12612270318624070182021-10-26T20:58:54.171-06:002021-10-26T20:58:54.171-06:00my great great grandfather is James Turner Bigham

I have not seen the book you mentioned but will look it up online, sounds interesting. If you can give me your Bigham line from the newest back to the oldest that you have found so far I would be happy to see if I can find anything for you. Approximate dates and places would be helpful as well.

Thanks for your comments.

VickieVickie Beard Thompsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09188093993517504733noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6780824883768425920.post-66338759323504862172018-06-16T17:14:15.381-06:002018-06-16T17:14:15.381-06:00Thanks I appreciate your comments. Thanks I appreciate your comments.Vickie Beard Thompsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09188093993517504733noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6780824883768425920.post-25538471520455625522018-05-23T08:37:54.671-06:002018-05-23T08:37:54.671-06:00I think my seventh great grandparents are James Bi...I think my seventh great grandparents are James Bigham and Joan Reilly too Think I descend through their son William. I think his wife's name might have been Mary Patton? My great grandmother's surname was Bingham. I have been trying to trace back the line the last several months. Have you seen the book The True Image: Gravestone Art and the Culture of Scotch Irish Settlers in the Pennsylvania and Carolina Backcountry (Richard Hampton Jenrette Series in Architecture and the Decorative Arts). It explains who carved the beautiful headstones. I find myself confused over the prolific use of the the names Samuel and William. Do you know how the stone carvers are connected to our William Bingham? Thanks for your time. I don't know much about Bighams and found your blog fascinating.
